The Adult and Youth Dyer County Leadership groups combined their sessions in November for Diversity Day.

The program featured Birgit Northcutt,  Executive Aide with the Continuing Education Department at Dyersburg State Community College who spoke about life in South Africa and apartheid. Michael Parr, representing the NAACP, presented a video to the class, and talked of life in Dyer County before integration, while Dr. Harinder Takyar, Program Director with the Hospitalist Program at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center discussed East Indian culture and the acceptance of foreign-born doctors in the United States.{phocagallery view=category|categoryid=4|imageid=136|float=right}

An additional feature of Diversity Day covered Americans with Disabilities with Norris Branick and Glen Barr of the Jackson Center for Independent Living speaking to the group.

Members of the FFA program at Dyersburg High School then went through a Parliamentary Procedure exercise for the class.
